Prajna Yoga - Third Thursday monthly!

Body Kneads Yoga - Cranston, RI

The Prajna style, as established by Tias Little, offers a profound journey inward.  Starting with the idea that yoga is a pathway that begins in the outer layers of the body and mind and navigates inward to the mystical, subtle and rarely seen interior.  We'll combine meditative practice with the power and grace of asana training.  In a process that requires sensitivity and inner listening, we'll explore the sheaths of connective tissue, muscle and bone in order to bring about greater wakefulness, luminosity and space within.  Underlying this teaching is the intention that we do not do poses for the sake of the pose, but for the quality of attention within the pose.  Through yoga postures, dharma study, guided meditation, the yoga of sound, somatic awareness and breath work this is a practice that allows for unique, personal transformation.

Weekend Intensive

Sun & Moon Yoga Studio - Washington DC

A weekend working with spirals!  The helix or spiral shape occurs naturally in many forms.  The spin of weather systems, the flow of water thru streams, waves and river beds, and the Fibonacci spiral expressed in flowers and nature invoke awe and interest in the human psyche.   The blood in our veins, the movement of our muscles, and the genetic structure held within our cells all move and form in sprialic fashion.  The spiral is also revered in yoga to represent either the upward and outward journey of awakening, or the cyclical trap of confusion and ignorance.  We'll study the spiral in many forms this weekend, applying related techniques to meditation, breath-work, asana, anatomy study, and play.  We'll explore the many expressions of the spiral from micro to macro and apply our experience in both soft, subtle forms of practice as well as strong and dynamic.  Come explore and learn how this natural phenomenon of movement and form can and does influence us!

Bandha Triptic - Saturday Workshop!

Providence Power Yoga Annex - PVD, RI

Come explore the inner dimensions, specifically the parallel planes of muscles where classic Hatha Yoga defines the action of the bandhas.  The bandhas are like valves to channel and redirect energy in the body.  They support core strength, allow one to move with lightness and grace, and provide access to more complex asana via their stabilizing force.  Beyond the physical, the bandhas provide access to the deep, still running waters of one's psyche, nervous system, and heart-mind.

Providence Power Yoga Annex - PVD, RI

A strong hatha class tha may often lead to a peak posture (or Two!).  Explore your boundaries and play along the edges of what you think is possible.  You are limitless!  This class is moderate intensity, non-heated, and emphasizes longer holding of postures.  Pranayama and meditation are also included.  The basic yoga poses are taught with focused attention on alignment.  Props are utilized to deeply enhance, inform and support each asana.  This class is excellent for all levels and especially those looking to delve deeper into the specifics of asana.  Over time we'll explore all the basic yoga poses from each of the asana families and of course plenty of time for relaxation.  Props to Caroline Pope Peavy for sharing this time slot with me!

Prajna Yoga - Third Thursday, monthly!
