I offer Yoga Alliance accredited yoga teacher training programs in the greater New England area and nationally.  With time on the mat since 1989 and in the role of the  teacher since 1999 I've much experience to draw from.  The programs I offer far exceed the standards set by Yoga Alliance incorporating many different techniques, a cross-pollination of styles, and penetrating study of asana, anatomy, meditation, therapeutics, hands on assisting, sequencing, wisdom teachings, subtle anatomy and so much more.

Pathways In

A practice for experienced students.  In this workshop we'll discuss the patterns of human development that get us from belly-down as babies, up to standing.  well apply this theory to movement in asana specifically honing in on how we push into the floor to find our own center.  Finding our center thru pushing, if integrated, brings deep core strength, lightness, buoyancy and the feeling of defying gravity.  We'll apply developmental technology to arm balancing, inverting, and floating postures refining how we not only relate to gravity, but how we relate to ourselves.

The Map & the Territory: Twists! (200hr TT required)

Twisting asanas can be experienced in all the asana categories: standing,
seated, prone, supine, and inverted. The boons and challenges will vary from
one category to the next, and the three families of twisting postures also
offer a variety of effects. Twisting with a flexed spine vs. with spinal
extension vs. honoring the natural spinal curves in a twist are all worthy to
explore. Come learn the families of twists, experience for yourself what
works best for you! The maps we use to study offer much to contemplate, but
the territory is ultimately yours to uncover.

Life Force Regulation & Pranayama: Anatomy, Theory, and Experience (200hr TT required)

The Practice of freeing one's life force (known as prana) via the breath can powerfully shift one's subtle body.  Pranayama, is the fourth limb in the Yoga Sutra map as established by Patanjali, and is also the Buddha's first of the Four Foundations of Mindfulness.  It has many expressions, disciplines, and practices.  This weekend we'll look at the foundational practices according to some classic texts  as well as thru the lens of BKS Iyengar.  We'll study and experience how these practices affect the body-heart-mind.  Asana practice will be in support of opening the rib basket, freeing the breath diaphragm, and cultivating the endurance of attentive breathing.  Shakti building for sure.

The Prajna style, as established by Tias Little, offers a profound journey inward.  Starting with the idea that yoga is a pathway that begins in the outer layers of the body and mind and navigates inward to the mystical, subtle and rarely seen interior.  We'll combine meditative practice with the power and grace of asana training.  In a process that requires sensitivity and inner listening, we'll explore the sheaths of connective tissue, muscle and bone in order to bring about greater wakefulness, luminosity and space within.  Underlying this teaching is the intention that we do not do poses for the sake of the pose, but for the quality of attention within the pose.  Through yoga postures, dharma study, guided meditation, the yoga of sound, somatic awareness and breath work this is a practice that allows for unique, personal transformation.
